Its all over the news and you have heard the arguments time and time again in regards to global warming. What would our future would be like if there was a consensus on this issue. What would happen if the argument continued for another 30 years. The answer seems so evident, but I believe the masses are more afraid of the implications that has on there future, or worse yet, what it says about the legacy the elders are leaving behind.

To me it seems like a politics as usual. Have climate summits for the purpose of putting on a good show for the citizens, while having a laissez-faire attitude for big business. While leading climatologists contend that man is the main contributor to the green house effect (global warming), scientists that are funded by the energy companies argue that it pseudoscience. Though this certainly is no surprise. Big oil must remain otherwise lobbyists might be out of a job.

Ask around, and many would consider that global warming as part of a marketing scheme, another reason to raise taxes, label you a treehugger, or repeat the rhetoric that heard in media.

“Hell, if our way of doing things all these years were wrong, well then I do not want to be right!”

What I believe people are really saying when they say that its hogwash is that he/she does not know how to fix it, or do not know how to make a big impact on my own.

Lets face it, Mother Earth, a magazine from the 70′s has been talking about this very same issue back then and 40 years later the argument continues. Since the its start many media companies wrote about and profited off of it, as did product manufacturers, inventors, and even scam artists. While we all start out with good intentions, serious investment in time and energy, whatever they entity, at one point or another, has to make a profit.

Unfortunately, most all of these inventions are not rational and do not make fiscal sense for the masses. Why, because energy from coal, gas, and oil are just too cheap. What if the gallon of gas was still above 5 dollars, how many people in your family would own a Toyota Prius, VW Diesel, and the like. How many car companies would have had better gas mileage than they currently have. How quickly would you have traded in your SUV?

In a published report from the CIA published in 2009, they stated that major wars would begin in 20 years, not for oil, but for water. Lakes and rivers are running dry, from increasing temperatures, and from what we have discovered the water bottling companies are only speeding up this crisis.

The lakes and river worldwide are being siphoned off and/or bought by multinational corporations, for the purpose of selling water back to the worlds citizens at 200x profit.

“Buying Water In A Bottle, Its Trendy, Its Convenient, And Its Killing You”

By purchasing bottled water, you are telling the corporations of the world that it is perfectly fine for them to turn life essential water into a business model. Considering that less than 2 percent of the worlds water is potable and accessible, don’t you think its time to reconsider your actions.

A further look into the CIA’s report also stated that increasing water shortages will only be exaggerated as the global temperatures increase. They had an estimate of 7 degrees in the 21st century, which is enough to raise the sea level 60 centimeters. A raise in sea level at this magnitude means that the majority of the Himalayan glaciers would have been melted, that most of the Arctic ice would have been gone, and that the rivers, lakes, and streams in your neck of the woods are either dryed up or close to it. More importantly, the water bottling companies that you have enabled to sell your water when it was plentiful in your neighborhood, will now be selling to the highest bidder worldwide.

Considering that 80 percent of the world’s countries already are suffering with water shortages, you have to begin to wonder how your kids may fare out.

“That puddles mine. I saw it first!”.

“What About The Safety of Drinking Bottled Water”

Ah yes, there is nothing more refreshing and natural then bottled water! Mother Earths best wrapped in decaying polyethylene. While many might argue that this is perfectly safe, you might be surprised to know that around 45% of bottled water is directly from municipalities. While municipal water is yearly inspected by the FED, water bottling companies are self regulated.

The Environmental Working Group out of San Francisco conducted tests on the 10 best water bottling brands for 190 different chemical compounds and found that 20 percent failed to live up to California safety standards. What they found was a mixed bag of bacterial growth, industrial chemical compounds, and fertilizer, but the worst offenders had high levels of trihalometrane.

The Environmental Working Group’s senior scientist, Olga Naidenko, said that the bottom line with these bottlers is that safety is hit or miss.

Interest Facts About Plastics & Recycling

Americans use 2,500,000 plastic bottles every hour! Only 27% of these bottles actually make it to the recycling center.

Plastic bags and other plastic garbage thrown into the ocean kill as many as 1,000,000 sea creatures every year!

Americans throw away 25,000,000,000 Styrofoam coffee cups every year.

With only 27% of plastic bottles actually making it to the recycling centers, landfills are heavily loaded with plastic bottles of all kinds.

What Can You Do About This To Make A Difference?

Its exhausting to repeatedly hear about doom and gloom, but there is something that you can easily do, stop buying bottled water, and teach your children the same. Instead, buy different colored reusable bottles for yourself and kids, and fill them up with filtered tap water before you leave the house. Using an assigned color system, your kids will have bottles that they can call their own. If you would like to go one step further, you could keep a bigger thermos in your car for on-the-go refills.
